Show at Red Mill Jan 2010

This January, I had a show at the Red Mill Gallery, which is the main gallery of the Vermont Studio Center. Yay! It went up the last night of the January residency, which prompted a celebration of the January residency with music, good food and readings by VSC writers & artists. This was my first installation piece. It was fun to hang the pieces in various locations along the walls and ceilings to activate the space of the Red Mill Gallery. The pieces are about my teacher Derek O'Neill, who lives in Ireland, and my Mom's cows.

The Red Mill Gallery has 2 rooms. The first room is a small room without windows. I filled it with watercolors from my residency in August, about my mom's cows and Celtic symbols.

Flying Paper Things Jan 2010

In December 2009 and January 2010, I focused on the teachings of Derek O'Neill on the Bhagivad Gita and the geometry of sacred symbols, such as the symbols for the five elements, the Star of David and the Pentagram. I also played with installation, sewing paper together and hanging it from the ceiling to expose both sides and to allow the viewer to look through at the wall pieces. I enjoyed this very much! These pieces became a show at the end of January at VSC.
